Gluggy

Gluggy brings together the day-to-day information needed to run a small mobile service business: customers, recurring jobs, schedules, completed work, outstanding payments and business performance.

Design concept

Gluggy was originally created for window cleaners. These businesses often operate through repeating rounds of customer visits, with jobs completed at different intervals and payments collected either immediately or at a later date.

Managing that work can involve several separate concerns at once: deciding which jobs are due, adjusting a round when circumstances change, recording completed or skipped work, notifying customers and keeping track of money still to be collected.

Gluggy was designed to bring those activities into one coherent workflow. Rather than treating scheduling, customer information and payment collection as separate tasks, it connects them around the job being performed.

Although it began with window cleaning, the underlying pattern applies to many recurring service businesses. Gluggy can therefore be configured for gardeners, domestic cleaners, pool cleaners, dog walkers, pet sitters, exterior cleaning businesses and other sole traders who visit customers to provide scheduled services.

How Gluggy works

The dashboard provides an immediate view of the working day. It shows jobs due today, overdue work and payments still to be collected, together with summary information about completed and skipped jobs.

Jobs can be completed, skipped, marked as paid or left awaiting collection. They can also be brought forward or pushed back without altering their underlying recurring schedule.

Customer, job and payment information remain connected. From the relevant record, the user can contact a customer, open their address in Maps, review their job history or send a completion notice or payment reminder.

The name

Gluggy takes its name from gluggi, the Icelandic word for “window”. The name reflects the application's origins as a tool designed specifically for window cleaners, even though its scope later expanded to support a wider range of service businesses.

Gluggy includes tools for loading sample data, backing up and restoring its database, and importing or exporting information. Further guidance, support information and details of future releases will be added to this page as they become available.
